Ford enthusiasts from Wappingers Falls to Hopewell Junction eagerly anticipated the return of the Ford Bronco. Ford brought back this SUV and introduced the Ford Bronco Sport as well. The Bronco and Bronco Sport are designed with a retro vibe, but their capability is stronger than ever. The Ford Bronco is an off-road master, and both the Bronco and Bronco Sport allow for the removal of doors and the roof to add to the fun of outdoor adventures. While both SUVs are capable of off-road adventure, the Ford Bronco Sport is smaller and may traverse the city more easily than its larger counterpart. Those with families may choose the larger Bronco, particularly if they regularly tow weight on camping trips or while otherwise traveling around town.

Exterior

The Bronco Sport is set on the same chassis as the Ford Escape and is available exclusively as a two-row sports utility vehicle. The Bronco Sport offers four doors and a rear liftgate. The Bronco is available in either two or four-door configurations. Both the Bronco and Bronco Sport offer the ability to remove both the doors and top. A hard top is available, but the standard covering for the Bronco and Bronco Sport is a soft top. The Bronco's soft top may be tilted to access the rear cargo area.

The Bronco Sport offers a choice of 17- or 18-inch wheels. All-season tires are standard, but all-terrain tires are available on some trims. With the Bronco, multiple tire sizes are available - some trims offer a choice between 17- and 18-inch wheels, while others offer 32 or 33-inch all-terrain tires.

Performance

The Bronco Sport offers two powertrains for drivers in Beacon, NY. The base engine is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain offers 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque performance power. The optional engine for the Ford Bronco Sport is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine; it is also partnered with the eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain offers 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque.

The Bronco also offers two different powertrains to fit the customer needs of those around town. The basic engine is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine offering 275 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque. Drivers should note that when using regular fuel, the horsepower will remain at 275, but those drivers who wish to boost that performance should utilize premium fuel for 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This engine is available with a seven-speed manual transmission. The optional engine configuration of the Ford Bronco is a 2.7-liter V6 gas engine paired with a ten-speed automatic. This powertrain offers up to 330 horsepower (again, premium gas plays a role) and 415 lb-ft of torque.

Drivers should note that the manual transmission offers a "crawler" gear that is not available with the automatic transmission.

Technology

The Bronco and Bronco Sport offer off-road technology called the "GOAT" system. This stands for Goes Over Any Terrain. Drivers in Carmel and Newburgh will utilize the Terrain Management System to find the right driving mode, and the Bronco and Bronco Sport tackle the terrain skillfully. The Bronco Sport has seven GOAT modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Sand, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Rock Crawl. The GOAT modes are the same in the larger Bronco, with the addition of the Baja mode.
