Performance
Two powertrain setups are offered for the new Ford Bronco. Coming standard is a turbocharged 2.3-liter 300-hp four-cylinder engine, while a twin-turbo 2.7-liter 330-hp V-6 is optional. Both engines have a 10-speed automatic transmission and can tow upwards of 3,500 pounds. However, only the seven-speed manual transmission is offered with the smaller engine.
With two separate engine options, the Bronco offers two separate fuel economies depending on the powertrain equipped. According to the EPA, the four-cylinder engine with the automatic transmission gets around 20 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. Meanwhile, the V-6 offers 17 mpg in the city and on the highway.
Technology
To enhance your driving experience, Ford has installed a fair number of technology features throughout the Bronco. On the center dash sits a 12.0-inch touchscreen running on Ford's latest in-dash Sync 4 software, allowing for over-the-air updates and wireless connection to the cloud and passengers' smartphones.
The display also supports features including Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot. Shoppers can also upgrade the Bronco to offer built-in navigation in the infotainment center. All models feature a seven-speaker setup for your audio entertainment, though a more powerful 10-speaker B&O stereo is offered in an optional package.
Safety Features
Whether you're driving kids to school or adventuring in the wilderness, the Ford Bronco will ensure you have a safe journey. Basic features include a hill start assist, automatic emergency braking, hill descent control, and trailer sway damping. More advanced features like rear parking sensors, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning, and lane-keeping assistance are available only in the optional Mid Package upgrade.
Design
The Ford Bronco is unique among SUVs as it's one of a handful of models that can come as a four-door or two-door model, have a soft-top or hard-top roof, and offer removable body panels. The Bronco also has a rack built into its dash, allowing smartphones and GoPros to be mounted on top.
With such a unique design, the exterior mirrors need to be mounted on the base of the windshield so they can be usable when the doors are removed. The open-air design also means the interior is available with rubberized flooring and marine-grade vinyl upholstery to better handle elements. The seating can also be upgraded to leather for a more durable and refined driving experience.
As you'd expect, Bronco models with two doors are smaller than those with four. However, the two-door model still provides enough space in the back seat to fit two adults comfortably. As for its cargo area, both models have ample space, but the four-door model is 50% larger than the two-door.
