This year, the F-150 is only getting better as it receives a mid-cycle refresh. Now, it offers more configurations, trims, and powertrains. Performance

The base V6 powertrain and the optional diesel engine have been removed this year. The once optional turbocharged 2.7-liter 325 hp V6 is the new base engine, and the remaining engine options remain unchanged.

  • Raptor-specific turbocharged 3.5-liter 450 hp V6
  • Raptor R-specific supercharged 5.2-liter 720 hp V8

Technology

Offered with the new updated cabin is some new tech as well. For the first time, Lamar, MO, and El Dorado Springs drivers will find a 12.0-inch display in the cabin. This monitor has an improved version of Ford's Sync 4 software and features Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Navigation, SiriusXM radio, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo are optional.

Design & Safety Features

Though much of the F-150's exterior looks the same as it always has, it has been slightly altered to offer a less boxy look. The interior, on the other hand, sees the biggest improvements. In higher trims like the King Ranch,

Platinum, and Limited models, drivers will find more upscale amenities like leather upholstery and much more tech.

In every cabin, drivers will find convenience features such as various cubby options and optional fold-flat front seats to provide a place for sleeping. Additionally, the 10-speed automatic shift lever can be folded into the center console to create a large, flat workspace.

For passenger safety, Ford has outfitted the F-150 with many safety features. These include lane departure warning, forward collision warning with automatic braking, and automatic high beams. Higher trims provide blind-spot warning, rear automatic braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Towing and Payload

With its multiple engine options, the F-150 offers varying towing strengths. Every engine has a max payload cap of 2,455 pounds, but with the base engine, there are only 13,500 pounds of towing. With the 5.0-liter V8 equipped, customers will receive about 13,000 pounds of towing. As for the hybrid powertrain, this has an estimated towing of 12,700 pounds.

F-150 Trims

XL

XL: A base trim with amenities such as keyless entry, a class IV trailer hitch, a digital instrument panel, and a 12-inch touchscreen with Sync 4 infotainment system.

XLT: Adds to the STX design with features like a power-adjustable driver's seat and a 360-degree camera system.

Lariat: Offering more premium features like leather upholstery, heated front seats, ambient interior lighting, and an eight-speaker B&O sound system.

Platinum: As an upgrade to the Lariat, the Platinum offers a special exterior and interior trim, heated and heated rear seats, plus a Tow/Haul package.

King Ranch: The highest trim is equipped similarly to the Platinum but offers a special two-tone exterior and interior, massaging front seats, a head-up display, and a 14-speaker B&O premium sound system.
